Spotlight on handbag designer Diego Rocha

Diego Rocha designs gorgeous handbags made for every occasion. Born in Brazil and based in Chicago, Diego's custom-made bags are made of luxurious skins (alligator, lamb, lizard, python, ostrich, or stingray) on the exterior and suede on the interior. Wearable art is the best way to describe his creations.
It all started in 2002 when Diego fell in love with fashion while living in New York City where he was studying to learn English. Soon after coming to the States, he decided to create his own handbag line. With the promise of reconnecting with his family and the excitement of exploring a new city, he left New York in 2005 and relocated to the Windy City. During his time here, he has developed a very successful business and has happily supported many charities within the local community.
In six years, Diego has come to admire and love many things about Chicago. Susanna Negovan, Editor in Chief of Michigan Avenue Magazine, is his favorite Chicagoan. He prefers the Tribune over the Suntimes and loves homemade pizza. His favorite neighborhood is the Gold Coast and he thinks the best place to shop is Barney's. He enjoys hanging out at the lakefront and spending time at home with his dogs. For all the women out there wondering about the best color to wear this Spring, Diego recommends "electric blue because it's hot and hard to find." His flagship store is located at 1050 N. State Street.
